Dietetic Field Experience
My professional dietetic experience in my DPD program includes a 60 hour practicum field experience in these areas:

Medical nutrition therapy, counseling, enteral nutrition, and food service management at Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY.

Observation of menu planning, sustainability, and nutrition education for the developmentally disabled with a group home program in New York's Suffolk County.

Knowledge of hemodialysis procedure and the dialysis diet at a clinic in St. Joseph, MO.

Observation of the nutrition care process in a long term care unit in Maryville, MO.
​

Viewing of duties performed by a Hy-Vee grocery store dietitian in Maryville, MO.

Volunteer Experience

My varied volunteer experiences include:

Weekly volunteering at a local soup kitchen

One-on-one nutrition counseling and assessment/diagnosis/intervention/monitoring/evaluation of two female athletes on my university's championship tennis team.

​Promotion, planning, and participation of an annual 5K run that raised funds for the Backpack Buddies program to support local food-insecure children

Promotion of National Nutrition Month and nutrition education to students at a local elemetary school

Participation in a nutrition sustainability program called "Sprouts: Get Out and Grow!" that taught young children to grow and harvest their own foods
